Root Password

Hello,

I am just getting back into Linux. I had my RHCSA in RedHat 8 now there is 9.

I am having an error when I go through and change the root password. It seems everything works fine, but when I exit out of recovery mode and reboot the system a start setup window appears then it locks up.

Even if I go through the setup when it clears the system is locked up and nothing shows up. It won't let me do anything either. It just shows the background. I have tried this in Alma Linux as well with same results. Just wondering what I'm missing or if the process is different for RH9 than for 8 to change root password.
