VGA works, but not Displayport

Posted on

Freshly installed RHEL 9 installation when connected to a monitor using DisplayPort ( computer displayport to monitor display port, using a displayport cable) will not show gui user log in, only the background and banner. But, if I switch the connection to the monitor and use the VGA connector ( computer vga port, to monitor vga port using a vga cable) it works.

The computer has a fresh install of RHEL 9.2 using the ISO image from the RH site. Added extentions, gnome_tweaks_noarch, gnome-shell-extension-classification-banner.noarch, gnome-shell-extension-headsup-display, gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons and gnome-extensions-app.x86-64. The installation was done with the computer hooked up to a monitor in the lab using VGA. Once this installation was done the computer was moved to another room and different monitor was used the problem with Displayport not showing the gui user log in was seen.

So what is causing the problem with Displayport and what needs to be done to fix it?
