Terminal Focus

Hello,
I'm having a problem when i'm using xterm on Mate-desktop. When i open two terminals, when i close one the focus should automatically be on the next terminal that's open. How do i make it behave that way? right now when i exit one terminal the focus does not go to the open terminal. Please advise.
