Meet Dustin Black, our Red Hatter of the Week!

Posted on

This week's featured Red Hatter is TAM Justin Black.

In his own words:

"Hi There! I'm Dustin Black, and I'm an MCSE from Fayetteville, Arkansas.

No really, that's how I got started in this whole computer thing back in the Internet bubble of '99 ...

Microsoft was a great start for me in the industry, like it was for a lot of people. But I've really spent the last dozen years slowly honing my Linux skills and pushing open source technologies as superior solutions for demanding enterprise workloads. Before coming to Red Hat in October of 2011, I spent a lot of my career as a brazen member of small Linux- and UNIX-focused teams inside much larger IT departments, constantly striving to push the envelope and enlighten my coworkers.

For the past year, I've worked with Red Hat's Global Support Services as a Senior Technical Account manager, based out of the Philadelphia area. As a TAM, I provide named-resource support for open source technologies to some of Red Hat's most demanding customers in the financial services and pharmaceutical industries. I now spend my days working with some of the smartest people I've every met, and fully enveloped in open source and the Red Hat culture. It's been a drastic change for me, and one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Recently, I've been focusing heavily on our new product, Red Hat Storage, and the underlying GlusterFS technology. Over the summer, I had the amazing opportunity to to travel around the world presenting on the technology at several Linux conferences and customer venues. Expect to see a lot from me this week about all things Red Hat Storage!

When I hang up the hat at night, I'm a family man, trying to enjoy every moment I can with my wife, three kids, and two cats. I'm also a serial hobbyist, tending to cycle through things I enjoy doing in my spare time. Among the biggies are cooking, photography, movies, home improvement projects, paintball, and general geekery."

Stay tuned for more from Dustin throughout the week.
