v2v kvm

Latest response

In the RHEV Sys Admin Guide, section 6.9.1, it states:

"The export domain enables you to add pre-configured virtual machines or domains to a Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager system."

I have a number of KVM guests that run on a host outside of the RHEV-M control.   I would like to bring one of these pre-configured guests into the RHEV-M system.

Are there any instructions for bringing foreign guests of the KVM variety into RHEV-M?

I have RHEV 3.0 beta 4, and an export domain attached to the datacenter.   I have tried just copying the image file to the NFS directory, but that is not recognized by the RHEV-M gui.

Thanks

Hi Paul

Have a look here: http://docs.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6-Beta/html/V2V_Guide/index.html

..especially chapters 1 and 3.  The KVM -> RHEV import process should work smoothly.

Best regards

Thanks.

I have been watching this video.   It discusses libguestfs, v2v and p2v is detail.   This is a great help.
