Installing RHEL5.4 on Windows 2008 Hyper-V- install hangs

Latest response

I am installing RHEL5.4 on a vhd and machine of a Windows 2008 Hyper-V 64bit server.  I have the install successful through loading the initial software, settings, and configs, then the screen says reboot.  The system reboots and I get the following:

Red Hat nash version 51.19.6 starting

reading all physical volumes.  This may take a while...

Found volume group "VolGroup00" using metadata type lvm2

2 logical volume(s) in vilume group "VolGroup00" now active

I have let this sit for over an hour.

What is wrong?

During the installation I did leave virtualization checked on the screen wiht that as a choice.

Thanks in advance.

The virtualization option installs Xen in RHEL 5.x. I don't think that is what you want as you are installing this on Microsofts hypervisor. I don't know enough about Xen but perhaps you could try this again without virtualization installed?

Thanks!

"yum groupremove Virtualization" will do the trick as root as well. I'm glad you got it all squared away!
