CUPS RAW driver

Posted on

I have a few dozen printers, of various manufacturers and models, all using the "Local Raw Printer" driver. The driver has worked for over 2 years since migrating the legacy application from HP-UX to RHEL 7. (I don't support the application, and I really don't care why they need this specific driver, besides the fact that it works and has worked for years.)

Here's my issue: suddenly, a few days ago, text written as such:
this
is a
test of
printing

...comes out like this:
this
is a
test of
printing

This occurred simultaneously across all 4 platforms: dev, qa, uat, and prod. No updates or changes were made to the servers or CUPS configuration.

Support sent me this link: https://access.redhat.com/solutions/1268463. If I switch to the /usr/share/cups/model/pxlmono.ppd driver it prints normally. I'm printing from the command line and not from the application. I'm running out of t-shooting steps and appreciate any assistance.

EDIT: The formatting is being fixed. Essentially, the second line begins after the first line ends, the third line begins after the second line, and so on.
