Rhel 6 client getting same updates coming from Rhel 7 repositories

Hi All,

I have a question about local repositories. Is it possible to update my rhel 6 client coming from rhel 7 repositories?

Scenario: i have created 2 repositories for both rhel 6 and rhel 7. but when i tried to point my rhel 6 to the rhel 7 repo, it seems it is getting the same update as well as kernel coming from my rhel 6 repo.

I thought my assumption is that rhel 6 client can only get updates from a rhel 6 repo and same for the rhel 7.

Please advise. and also what are the pros and cons? thanks
