Server rebooted by itself after system time changed in log

Latest response

Hello,
We are using RHEL 7,2.
Today our server rebooted by itself.
The odd thing was that system time changed before reboot.
I am attaching part of sys log file where the system time changes and then it comes back again .

I am not sure what causes the problem?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Sadashiva,

Ignore this post:

You seem to respond to a post of over 4 years old. @Majid is this still relevant to you?

Error in the Customer Portal.

Jan Gerrit Kootstra

Yeah Jan, I didn't notice the date since it was posted in the first page of discussion list I thought it is recent post. Seems to be an error in the site...

Same with me - I thought it's a new post, because I saw it in the recent discussions list.
Let's hope that the time stamp issue we experience on the portal will get fixed soon ! :)

Christian

Hi Majid,

I have seen something like this after the CMOS battery died ... if that's the case, replace it. Another possibility could be that the
system time is configured to use local time, as described in the article Sadashiva provided. But this won't be responsible for the
system restarting by itself - did you by chance create a cron job or something like that which causes this on specific occasion ?

Regards,
Christian
