which subscription to buy for clustering RHEL6.5 on Power 8
Hi to anyone who can help.
We have two IBM Power8 servers running mainly AIX, but we also need to run three RHEL 6.5 LPARs
We also need to setup two of those LPARs in a simple cluster which will just perform IP address take-over.
I believe the RHN subscription to cover the LPARs and allow me to access the ppc64 repos is listed as:
** Red Hat Enterprise Linux For Power LE [Commercial/Government -
Renewal (Standard) (3-Years) (IFL) (Up To 4) LPARs - Electronic
Non-Returnable Linux] **
My questions are:
- Is this the correct RHN subscription for RHEL6.5 ?
- What additional subscription(s) do I need to purchase to allow me to setup the cluster?
Thanks,
David

Hi Midrange Team
I recommend you contact Red Hat Sales directly on this. They can rope in any Red Hat technical advisors as necessary. It's their job to deliver the proper answer for your scenario. The people here are generally volunteers, although Red-Hatters do frequent these discussion forums.
Lastly, if possible, I'd recommend that if you're really going to set up something as substantial as you describe, really really consider using Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 7.5, because Red Hat version 6 is reaching end of life, and the customer you're supporting would probably prefer sustainability if possible. The latest version of RHEL 6 is version 6.9 and there's plenty of issues and security issues with 6.5 which could make that system a magnet for vulnerability issues.

Hi RJ, I'll take it up with the sales team...I just thought I'd post on here in the off-chance I might catch someone who had been in the same situation :) Also - I fully support your comment on the o/s version being quite back-level, but the people who run the applications have insisted on 6.5. It's an internal system, and only the application ports + ssh will be open, so risks are minimised but I have raised the issue about the longevity of this particular version and wheels are in motion to upgrade.
Thanks for your response
Dave
