Annoying subscription nightmare
Can you make it so a system will register, not just attach and not receive updates? This is what my experience is with the new free developer subscription. Attach the system and no updates. Pretty useless offering.
Responses
Hi Kevin,
Sometimes something simply "hangs" and the free developer subscription can be considered as being an optional offering.
I realized that something had changed under the hood, the no-cost edition does not have an associated contract anymore.
This could mean that it might take some time until the (re)new(ed) subscription is connected with the Red Hat repositories.
Anyway, no reason for frustration, you can solve it by running the following commands (proven to work in nearly all cases) :
sudo subscription-manager remove --allsudo subscription-manager unregistersudo subscription-manager clean
sudo subscription-manager registersudo subscription-manager refreshsudo subscription-manager attach --auto
Check which repositories are available with sudo subscription-manager repos --list.
Check which repositories are enabled with sudo subscription-manager repos --list-enabled.
You can add other repositories ... some examples :
sudo subscription-manager repos --enable rhel-7-server-devtools-rpmssudo subscription-manager repos --enable rhel-7-server-extras-rpmssudo subscription-manager repos --enable rhel-7-server-optional-rpmssudo subscription-manager repos --enable rhel-server-rhscl-7-rpms

Christain
