Attempting to XRDP into RHEL client via a Thin Client

Latest response

Good morning,
I have installed XRDP onto my RHEL 7 workstations and when I attempt to connect using a computer running Windows 7, I can get right in. So no problem there. However, I have users that are don't have physical machines at their desk and are using a WYSE 7010 (ThinOS) Thin Client for work. When they try to XRDP into their RHEL 7 workstation, they are able to input their user name and password but it goes to a black screen then back to their initial login screen. I'm getting "rdp: virtual channel rdpsnd error" as my error. What am I doing wrong?

Forgot to mention. My network (windows/Linux) is an offline system. No connection to the outside world via Internet.

xrdp is a Linux client to connect to a Windows desktop. xrdp is not server for Linux to enable Windows clients to connect to Linux.

You need another application to be able to connect from Windows to Linux, for putty to use ssh. MobiXterm to use ssh and display a XWindows based application screen.

Yes, xrdp enable to connect Windows client to Linux Server. But you need additional module in Linux System (for example VNC). After that, mstsc.exe can connect to Linux with the rdp port.

I have similar issue with the Dell Wyse 3040 (ThinOS). My workaround was to set "rdpsnd=false" in xrdp.ini

Stefan, Thanks for the reply. I did the same setting change a couple of weeks ago. One day, I'll get better at updating my own questions.
