Nvidia Drivers Xorg Boot Error

Posted on

Hello All

I have been chasing this error for sometime, i have a Quadro M2000M graphics card in a Lenovo P50 Optimus laptop that gets stuck at boot on "Starting Update UMTP about system runlevel changes", if i ctrl alt F2 and enter startx xorg launches as it should.

What i have done so far:
1. Installed and updated RHEL7 Workstation with optional/extra/epel enabled.
2. Installed the latest stable graphics driver as well as tested the previous 2 stable drivers
3. Installed DKMS for compatibility with updated kernels
4. Used nvidia-xconfig to generate xorg.conf, boot fails
5. Removed xorg.conf and tested boot, boot successful on 2 attempts then the issue reappears
6. Used lspci | grep VGA to identify Nvidia BUSID and set BUSID variable, no change
7. Used Xorg -config to create new xorg.conf file, failed with server error
8. Enabled aquire EDID.bin via nvidia-settings, no change

I have attached the log file for Xorg as well as my xorg.conf file

Thank you very much in advance

Kind Regards

Ryan
