Cloudforms virtual appliance initial configuration - CFME Server&DB "not running"

Latest response

Hi,

I got the CloudForms appliance installed and I can access the appliance menu.
The database is created but nothing is happening afterwards.

I looks like I'm still missing a configuration.
The CFME Server & Database status is "not running" and "not configured". See att. image

When I check the log of evm, I get:
Sat Feb 25 12:14:21 UTC 2017 EVMINIT EVM Appliance Booted
Sat Feb 25 12:21:33 UTC 2017 EVMINIT EVM Appliance Booted
Sat Feb 25 12:30:59 UTC 2017 EVMINIT EVM Appliance Booted

I followed the official documentation but it looks like the service is not starting although I created the local db?

CloudForms Management Engine (CFME) configures the internal database.

Before installing the internal database, did you add a disk to the appliance? Red Hat CloudForms only supports installing of an internal VMDB on blank disks; installation will fail if the disks are not blank. Configuring a Database for Red Hat CloudForms

I ran into this exact same issue. What the prompt asks you "Enter Y or N for Configure this server as a dedicated database instance?", make sure to select "N". Otherwise you will not be able to choose a region and the CFME server will not load.

Just run into this problem. Your comment save me a lot of time. Thank you very much.

Based on your comment, what i've done to solve it was: 1. Stopped all related services

systemctl stop evmserverd && systemctl stop rh-postgresql95-postgresql
  1. Clean database files
rm -rf /var/opt/rh/rh-postgresql95/lib/pgsql/*
  1. Launch the appliance_console again and configure a new database, this time making sure I use "N" as suggested.

Thanks again for your help!!! :)
