kerberos integration with sssd?

Is it possible to have sssd maintain/renew the krbtgt ticket automatically without user intervention or calling kinit from a cron etc.? The documentation seems to state this is possible however I have been unable to make this work.

Background: I have set up auto-mounting of a CIFS share at boot time using a kerberos keytab. Unfortunately the ticket granting ticket eventually expires disabling access to the CIFS shares. This is a RHEL 7.2 server joined to a Windows 2012 AD domain.
