Hi, I have exactly the same problem since yesterday with RHEL 7.0

Which tool do you use?
rhn_register or subscription-manager?

If you are using subscription-manager, what is the output of

subscription-manager list --installed

I get:
Status: Not Subscribed
Status Details: Not supported by a valid subscription

me too, and it's totally frustrating... to the point where I'm ready to tell my management to forget RH support, and look at a different distribution

Have you registered the machine to the customer portal? If so, what happens when you run subscription-manager list --available

Gents,

Rereading the original post. 1 socket subscription for a 2 socket motherboard. This is not supported so subscription manager refuses to add the subscription. You need another subscription, called Workstation.

Kind regards,

Jan Gerrit Kootstra

Go to this page to see what subscriptions you have: https://access.redhat.com/management/

As prior poster suggests the entitlements are important. For server each "subscription" provides 2 "entitlements" but each physical server takes 2 entitlements (whereas virtual guests only take 1 entitlement. Since you're doing a workstation and he suggests a separate subscription it presumably has its own entitlement.

yes, finally we were contacted by RH, and they explained exactly how the subscriptions work.... so.... what we're going to have to do is limit our RH vm's to run only on one hyper-visor, assign the RH virtual data center license to that hypervisor, then all will be well.... so, it was a misunderstanding on our part of how the RH Virtual Data Center licenses works..... now that we understand, we have a plan...
