RHEL 6.4, migrating AD integration from W2K3 to 2012

Latest response

Hi All,

We need to upgrade our domain controllers from W2K3 to 2012 before MS ends security updates. Our ERP system is running on RHEL 6.4 x64 and is integrated with AD for shell login and file sharing. We also have several other RH systems that are integrated ranging from EL 5.1 to EL 6.1. They're all using the rid backend. Has anyone done a similar upgrade and did you run into any issues?

Thanks,
John

You should be good with 6.x - it's running a later winbind version than 5.x - particularly earlier 5.x versions did. With the later version, the new authentication modes are supported. Red Hat did offer a later winbind binary for 5.x, but it (at least used to be) outside of the mainline update channel.
