Diagnosing TCP connecitivy issues when performing satellite-sync or yum

  • When there an agent in the middle of the TCP conversation, some things gets changed, some footprints are left behind. Tracking them will leads us to the acting agent.

  • One main way to identify proxies on local network is to compare ping latency values against a direct connection one. Like this:

$ ping satellite.rhn.redhat.com -c 3
PING sate...
