Failure in RHEL 6 parted/anaconda when Head Cylinder count is out of bounds

Issue

  • Parted and anaconda through pyparted fail if USB sticks have Head, Cyl & Sector count that are unexpectedly low.
  • When I run parted /dev/sdc print or when anaconda probes my disk I get a failure and a stack trace.
  • This has already been fixed in 6.2, but current users are exposed.
