Custom domains are specific wildcard domains that can be used with Red Hat OpenShift Dedicated (OSD) applications and Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS (ROSA) applications. The top-level domains (TLDs) are owned by the customer that is operating an OSD or ROSA cluster. The Custom Domains Operator will set up a new ingresscontroller with a custom certificate as a day two operation. The public DNS record for this new ingresscontroller can then be used by external DNS to create a wildcard CNAME record to use for a custom domain.

For Red Hat OpenShift Dedicated (OSD), please refer to Configuring custom domains for applications in OSD.

For Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS (ROSA), please refer to Configuring custom domains for applications in ROSA.

Note: There is no Custom Domains Operator in ROSA Hosted Control Plane (ROSA HCP).

To configure the Custom Application Domains with an internal LoadBalancer, please refer to Configure a Custom Application Domain with an internal LoadBalancer in OSD and ROSA.

Note: the allowed customization in the Custom Domains Operator are limited at this moment. Refer to Customize the ingresscontroller in OSD and ROSA for additional information.
