What new product features can be found in Red Hat Global File System 6.0?

Updated -

The following features can be found in this version:

  • Access Control List support (ACLs)

  • Extended Attributes

  • Sub-second node failure detection

  • Asynchronous locking (for improved performance)

  • Cluster Suite GUI integration

These features provide increased security (via ACLs and Extended Attributes) by allowing more precise control of user file access and by better integration with SELinux (which requires Extended Attributes). GFS can now use Red Hat Cluster Suite for application fail-over and management, combining two powerful technologies to provide both data sharing and high availability to Red Hat Enterprise Linux clusters.
