Has the physical volumes limit of 255 per volume group with LVM1 changed in LVM2?

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 has a maximum limit of 255 physical volumes per volume group since it uses LVM1. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 uses LVM2 and does not have this restriction.
