Why is the order of the SCSI/SAS device recognized on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 Update 3 different from that on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 Update 2?

Symptom:

Naming convention of SCSI/SAS may change due to the order in which drivers load on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 Update 3.

For example, in case of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 Update 2, when the dmesg is run, its output will contain the below lines:

scsi0: sas
sda ... sas di...
