What happened to my demo entitlement?
What is a demo entitlement?
At one time, Red Hat gave out what was known as a "demo" entitlement. This was a free entitlement that was intended to be used to subscribe a legacy Red Hat Linux system to the Red Hat Network (RHN) for updates and errata. "Red Hat Linux" is an old distribution that has long since been superseded by "Red Hat Enterprise Linux." Red Hat Linux maintenance and errata support ended April 30, 2004.
Currently supported Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscriptions do not benefit from the demo entitlement, because Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscriptions include and require both a system entitlement and connection to a base channel in RHN in order to receive updates.
Where did my demo entitlement go?
Demo entitlements are scheduled to be removed from RHN accounts on June 16, 2010. In an effort to validate the entitlements in RHN, all accounts will be refreshed so that entitlements accurately match what has been purchased. Once your demo entitlement is removed, your entitlements will accurately reflect purchases you have made. If you have no current, active subscriptions, you will not be able to access updates within RHN.

What happens to my systems that were using the demo entitlements?
If the system was already connected to a base channel and another entitlement is available, the system will stay registered. If no entitlement is available, or the system was not connected to a base channel, the system will become unentitled.
