How do I view the system boot and daemon output in text mode instead of graphical mode at system start up?

One way to disable graphical boot is by editing the /boot/grub/grub.conf and remove rhgb from the boot parameters on the kernel line. rhgb stands for 'Red Hat Graphical Boot'

Here is an example of a grub.conf kernel boot line which includes rhgb

kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.9-22.ELsmp ro root=LABEL=...
