How do I check for hidden diskspace usage?

If the Red Hat Enterprise Linux server is showing a large amount of diskspace being used and there is an inability to locate the files that cause this, the file may be located under a hidden mount.

This issue may occur when attempting to write to a NFS volume that is not mounted. For example:
