How do I check the NTP synchronistion status in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4?

To check to see if NTP has synchronised the server to the correct time, run the ntpstat command. This will return the current status. If the server is synchronised the output will look like the following:

synchronised to NTP server (172.16.52.28) at stratum 3
time correct to within 63 ms
polling server every 1024 s
