Why do I see a PReP disk partition not ending on a cylinder boundary when booting rescue mode on a System i using a STMF as the IPL Source?

Updated -

A PReP partition generally contains either the yaboot boot loader or just a kernel. In this case it contains a kernel that OS400 is exposing to Open Firmware and Linux. OS400 creates a 'virtual' vscsi disk formated to look like a PReP partition with the STMF kernel for use by the Linux partition.

If something like this is seen on the last disk when running fdisk -l
