Why does the postun scriptlet fail when rhnsd is updated in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5?

Updated 2010-02-24T03:46:02+00:00

If your system was not registered on the Red Hat Network, the rhnsd post-uninstall script, postun, would fail when attempting to upgrade from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4. As a result, the rhnsd update would fail:

# rpm -Uhv rhnsd-4.7.0-4.el5.i386.rpm
warning: rhnsd-4.7.0-4.el5.i386.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 37017186
