Why could I get segmentation fault when I install a package using RPM?

Segmentation faults that occur when using rpm to install a package is mostly due to an incompatible version of glibc such as the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 glibc on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1 or vice versa. Third-party glibc packages can break compatability in Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
