Why does my CDROM not work properly under Red Hat Enterprise Linux on a Stratus ftServer 6210/4410?

Limitation: Only applies to Stratus Technologies ftServer models 6210 and 4410

Symptom:

Improper CDROM operation

Solution:

For proper CDROM operation on this system, add i8042.noaux to the kernel boot options. For example:
