mysql-5.0 in RHEL5 is no longer receiving any updates or security errata. There are a large number of outstanding security issues present which mean that it cannot be adequately secured on its own.

Red Hat will not issue any more security advisories for the MySQL 5.0 packages (mysql-5.0.* and related packages). Security advisories will be provided only for MySQL 5.5.
