[RHOS] Why is the newly added nova-compute node not able to boot new instances?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • We have an OpenStack Havana cluster with three nodes:

    1. Controller and Network node
    2. Compute Node 1 and
    3. Compute Node 2.
  • We added a third compute node using packstack.

  • However, when we try to create an instance on the third compute node, we get the following error in /var/log/nova/compute.log:
2014-03-10 01:04:42.029 3372 ERROR nova.openstack.common.rpc.impl_qpid [req-b888b60f-722d-492a-a0ea-a3454e98be40 None None] Unable to connect to AMQP server: [Errno 113] EHOSTUNREACH. Sleeping 60 seconds
