Why are some Bull systems certified to run Red Hat software products with higher specifications than are listed as being supported?
This article clarifies the certification status of Bull systems with higher specifications (such as RAM or CPU) than the amounts listed as supported for Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat OpenStack Platform on the supported limits page at https://access.redhat.com/articles/rhel-limits
In order to achieve certification with configurations that exceed the supported CPU and/or memory amounts for RHEL and RH OSP, systems are subjected to extended engineering testing that verifies expected system behavior beyond the normal hardware certification tests.
The following systems have been tested to ensure that operating beyond the published limits would not cause any issues:
-
Bull BULLX S6130 is certified for up to 576 cores with RHEL 7.2, x86_64 or later.
-
Bull bullion S16 is certified for up to 768 cores with RHEL 7.2, x86_64 or later.
-
Bull bullion S16 is certified for up to 576 cores with RHEL 6.7, x86_64 or later.
-
Bull NovaScale bullion, 16-socket model is certified for up to 320 cores with RHEL6.3, x86_64 and later
-
Bull NovaScale bullion, 12-socket model is certified for up to 240 cores with RHEL6.3, x86_64 and later
