Provide additional options for router deployment in Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • We have an external load-balancer in front of our HAProxy. Currently, if we update the router, openshift deploys it rolling without interruption. But the load-balancer needs a few seconds to realize, that a pod is now on another node. This results in a few requests being passed to a node, where the router is already terminated, which means requests are dropped. So the main problem is, that we can not control on which node a router gets shut down, so we cannot update the load-balancer upfront.

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 3.2.1
