Moving credentials around

I inherited an Ansible Tower 3.8 environment and am trying to do some cleanup before migrating it over to AAP on OpenShift.

There is a credential in one of the Orgs that I want to remove. And although that Org isn't being used, the credential is being used in several other Orgs for some reason.

Is it safe to move that credential to another Org without it affecting where it's being used? Does the ability/permission to use a credential live with the credential or is it somehow tied to the Org?
