Administrative tools currently found in EPEL - bring to RHEL?

Posted on

There are several administrative tools currently found in EPEL (or other repositories) which could be considered as possible candidates to bringing to RHEL. Here are a few of mine; perhaps others can suggest some?

- mock (essential tool for building RPMs nowadays but still only in EPEL)

- ack (simple, useful "grep" improvement)

- meld (invaluable GUI tool for comparing config files e.g. after an RPM upgrade which has created .rpmnew files)

- cpuid (helpful for looking up CPU information)
