Announcing the GA release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.1

We’re excited to announce the general availability of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.1. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.1 provides flexibility, stability, and reliability to support hybrid cloud innovation. Deploy applications and critical workloads faster with a consistent experience across physical, virtual, private, and public cloud and edge deployments.

With Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.1, organizations can:

Innovate - Organizations are constantly looking to innovate quickly without friction and provide consistency from the data center to the edge by streamlining operations and centralizing development and management. With RHEL 9.1, organizations can spend more time on innovation and less on maintenance. RHEL 9.1 now supports PHP 8.1, a significant update of the PHP language containing many new features, including enums, read-only properties, first-class callable syntax, fibers, intersection types, and performance improvements.

Optimize - Red Hat Enterprise Linux image builder (as provided in RHEL and as a hosted service at helps organizations build standard, optimized operating system images that can rapidly deploy across all runtime environments. New capabilities in the on-premise version of image builder include security compliance with OpenSCAP profiles now defined in the blueprint file - users can now specify an OpenSCAP security profile to the image builder blueprint when building images to support their security compliance requirements. Additionally, embed containers, such as RHEL UBI, into images as defined in the blueprint file - users can specify in the blueprint that the image build will embed a container image (pulled from the container registry) that will be available for immediate use upon boot-up.

Protect - Continuously mitigating risk across the hybrid cloud, including building, scaling, and managing workloads, which can be challenging for most organizations. With RHEL 9.1, organizations can create a stable, consistent, and trustworthy platform that sets the foundation for a strong security posture to scale applications and roll out emerging technologies across the hybrid cloud. With RHEL 9.1, classified agencies and ISVs can better implement multilevel security (MLS) to match their information security classification needs with improved documentation. Security administrators can also take advantage of new attestation of the measured boot to remotely verify the integrity of their operating system’s boot environment.

Trust - It is a never-ending challenge for organizations to manage the complexity of their systems and help provide consistent configuration and workflows at scale by automating common administrative tasks. With RHEL 9.1, organizations can operate confidently and ensure long-term success. The Microsoft SQL system role introduces support for Always On availability groups with the RHEL High Availability Add-on. The role can configure synchronous clusters to scale read performance and includes support for configuration-only replicas that can be used to reduce cluster licensing costs. Additionally, the firewall system role can optionally reset the firewall configuration to system defaults to help with consistent configurations. Plus, this role will now gather firewall facts that are exported as Ansible variables, and interfaces can now be added to a zone by specifying a PCI device ID.
