Red Hat Customer Portal: What's New on July 1, 2014

Updated -

We're pleased to announce the following enhancements to our Customer Portal included with our updates published on July 1, 2014. These features, along with numerous bug fixes and minor enhancements, are now available to all users.

Moving Drupal from access.redhat.com/site/ to access.redhat.com

The Customer Portal has come a long, long way since its inception in June 2011. Our Drupal instance was initially established as a home for the Red Hat Knowledgebase under the /site/ URL path. However, as more and more of the portal has come to be powered by Drupal, we found it was time to remove the /site/ pattern and move Drupal to the portal root of access.redhat.com.

After this release, Drupal's URL pattern will no longer include /site/. This means content at access.redhat.com/site will move to access.redhat.com. For example, the URL of a solution will change from:

access.redhat.com/site/solutions/12345

to

access.redhat.com/solutions/12345

Though product documentation is not currently part of Drupal, it will also drop /site/ and move from access.redhat.com/site/documentation to access.redhat.com/documentation.

Permanent redirects have been put into place, so you should not have to update any bookmarks.

Best Discussion Responses

We recently introduced a feature allowing associates to mark a particular comment on a discussion as the "best response." This highlights an individual comment in the thread and promotes a clone of the comment to the very top of the responses, allowing it to be seen at a glance. This can be used to call out a particularly valuable contribution or to mark the solution to the initial question.

Right now we're testing the feature, and only Red Hat associates can mark a comment as the best response. In future, we'll be allowing the original poster of a Discussion thread to select the response he or she wishes to highlight, and all community users will be allowed to vote for the response they consider the best.

Red Hat Network (RHN) Updates

The most recent RHN update included a fix for a request to update verbiage on the "Download Software" ISO home page.
