Unable to use rhevm-webadmin-portal after yum upgrade

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.0
  • rhevm-webadmin-portal-3.0.3_0001-3.el6.x86_64

Issue

  • After updating the rhevm-webadmin-portal to latest version, it failed to open from RHEL system.

  • While trying to perform any action on vm using webadmin portal, geting following error,

Error: A Request to the Server failed: java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException

Resolution

  • The "rhevm-webadmin-portal" version and the other "rhevm*" package versions were mismatched after upgrading "rhevm-webadmin-portal" to latest version.

  • Once upgraded the rhevm packages using "rhevm-upgrade" command, rhevm-webadmin-portal working fine.

Root Cause

  • The "yum update" does not upgrade the packages from "Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager" child channel. You need to update the rhevm packages using "rhevm-upgrade" command only.

  • The "rhevm-webadmin-portal" is a tech-preview version at the moment and currently not part of RHEV installation. In future version of rhevm, it supposed to be part of RHEV Installation.

Diagnostic Steps

  • From the provided sosreport, there are still old version rhevm* related packages on system :
