Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.2 installation over network hangs for extended period when booting from console-attached ISO across slow network
Issue
- When installing Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.2 by booting from a install or boot ISO and then directing to perform a network install, the stage2 image from the "local" disc is always loaded, unless interactively overridden with the askmethod parameter. When that ISO file is mounted to the target server via a remote console protocol (like HP's iLO), and the connection between the client and the target is extremely slow, then the transfer of the ~130MB stage2 image file will cause a significant delay in the installation process.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.2
