Why RT-filter configuration does not work on JBoss EAP6.2.0?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss Operations Network (JON)
    • 3.1.2
    • 3.2.x
    • 3.3
  • Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) 6

Issue

  • I have successfully configured rhq-rtfilter-module on JBoss EAP 6.0.1 in the standalone mode but the same configuration is not working on JBoss EAP 6.2.0.
  • The EAP server fails at start up with the following message:
ERROR [org.jboss.as.server] (Controller Boot Thread) JBAS015956: Caught exception during boot: org.jboss.as.controller.persistence.ConfigurationPersistenceException: JBAS014676: Failed to parse configuration
...
Caused by: javax.xml.stream.XMLStreamException: JBAS014674: Failed to load module org.rhq.helpers.rhq-rtfilter-subsystem
...
Caused by: org.jboss.modules.ModuleNotFoundException: org.rhq.helpers.rhq-rtfilter-subsystem:main
...
  • Is this RT-filter module compatible with EAP 6.2.0?
  • Node won't start after calltime monitoring is enabled.
  • Why RT-filter configuration does not work on JBoss EAP6.2.0?
  • We used rhq-rtfilter-4.9.0.JON320GA.jar on 3.2 what is the equivalent on 3.3 ? and where can I obtain it ?

Resolution

  • Downloaded rhq-rtfilter-subsystem-module.zip from the JBoss ON UI Downloads page.
    • Make sure that rhq-rtfilter-subsystem-module.zip is downloaded from the JBoss ON UI Downloads page, and then unzipped and copied to $JBOSS-HOME/modules.
    • Check if configuration is correct.

Root Cause

  • According to the Exception that is logged in the EAP 6 server.log file:
...
Caused by: org.jboss.modules.ModuleNotFoundException: org.rhq.helpers.rhq-rtfilter-subsystem:main
...

EAP server fails to start because module org.rhq.helpers.rhq-rtfilter-subsystem is not found.

  • Make sure that configuration is correct.
  • Check if additional module directory is used and if it was setup properly.
