JBoss with Java7 uses more of physical memory than Java6

Issue

  • JBoss process is taking 1GB more of physical memory running on Java7 than with Java6 running with the same JVM options and memory parameters.
  • The increased memory is not due to increased heap utilization.

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss SOA-P 5.3.1
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Oracle JDK
  • OpenJDK
