Issue

  • Duplex printing may not work correctly with Some HP LaserJet printers on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
    • Duplex printing with the a2ps command works correctly
    • gedit prints the first page simplex and the rest of the pages duplex
    • Adobe Reader prints only in simplex
    • Evince prints correctly
  • By default, printers are printing one side only. To print both sides following options were enabled, however this option is not working:

    lpoptions -d PHKGJPMF21Q51 -o sides=two-sided-long-edge
    

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 & 6
  • Common Unix Printing System (CUPS) 1.3.7 & 1.4.2
