Getting Intermittent HTTP 400 responses using CXF JAX-RS WebClient

Issue

  • Using CXF's WebClient class to implement a RESTful WS client to a java servlet based server, we are intermittently receiving HTTP 400 responses from the server... that the server does not seem to have sent.

  • Is it possible that, under certain conditions, CXF WebClient generates "mock internal responses" internally (i.e. without actually having received anything from the server)?
