Environment
- Red Hat Satellite 5.x
Issue
- the customer wants register the system once using a generic activation key and then use a different activation key so the server will joins his application groups and channels.
- is there a way to avoid duplicate profile if we are using the rhnreg_ks command twice ?
- using the --force option does register the server but the customer does want that the same profile will be created twice.
Resolution
- Use the
rhnreg_ksto register the system during the post install and specify multiple activation keys separated by comma's
# rhnreg_ks --activationkey=activationkey1,activationkey2,activationkey3
Root Cause
- Do not run
rhnreg_kstwice with a different activation key as this will create duplicate profiles in Red Hat Satellite.
Diagnostic Steps
- Please see the Red Hat Satellite Getting started Guide for more information about usage of multiple activation keys here: 3.1.3 Using Activation Keys
