Formatting a 1TB disk with mkfs.ext3 is slow
Issue
- Formating 1 T Disk While Writing inode table slow (hang) at 412/8064
- Newly install server, formatting a small disk space like (30G) is ok. But when formating a large disk like 1T, it hang at the following point:
Writing inode table: 412/8064
The above may progress a little but still very slow.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4,5,6
- ext3
