JON 3.2 server stops performing job or operation scheduling if back-end database has gone offline for any period of time

Issue

  • Server reports the following warning every 15 seconds:

    WARN  [org.quartz.impl.jdbcjobstore.AttributeRestoringConnectionInvocationHandler] (QuartzScheduler_RHQScheduler-jboss.example.com1399419974912_ClusterManager) Failed restore connection's original auto commit setting.: java.sql.SQLException: Connection is not associated with a managed connection.org.jboss.jca.adapters.jdbc.jdk6.WrappedConnectionJDK6@11a75d80
    
  • The following error is logged in server.log:

    ERROR [org.quartz.core.QuartzSchedulerThread] (RHQScheduler_QuartzSchedulerThread) releaseTriggerRetryLoop: RuntimeException null: java.lang.reflect.UndeclaredThrowableException
    ...
    Caused by: org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: This connection has been closed.
    
  • Hourly and daily maintenance is no longer being performed

  • Resource operations do not get executed
  • Scheduled operation remains on the scheduled operations page even after its next execution time has passed

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss Operations Network (ON) 3.2, 3.2.1
  • JBoss ON back-end database has gone offline or was unreachable for 5 or more seconds
