Getting "ERRDOS - ERRnoaccess (Access denied.)" when trying to mount via Samba a share in an Active Directory environment

Issue

  • When trying to mount a share in an AD environment, the following error appears:
[root@host ~]# mount -t smbfs //server/sharename /mnt -o credentials=/root/.smbpasswd,uid=user,gid=group,dmask=770
postdrop: warning: uid=0: ignoring attribute record: rewrite_context=local
Password:
22038: session setup failed: ERRDOS - ERRnoaccess (Access denied.)
SMB connection failed
  • This share was previously working.
  • Nothing changed on the Windows server.
  • Firewall/networking is properly configured between systems.

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 4

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6
