mount.cifs uses root:root permissions when mounting with the uid='username' or gid='groupname' options specified

Issue

The mount.cifs utility no longer honors the --uid option when attempting to mount with a username specified, however when a UID number is specified everything works as expected.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • cifs-utils < 4.8.1-10.el6
